Year 9 Debating
Over the course of the past year, we have been fortunate enough to have students represent the College at the Debaters Association of Victoria Debating Competition.

Although all of these students have done exceptionally well, we are excited to congratulate a group of our Year 9 students who made it into the top 16 teams in the state.

Over 2500 teams enter the debating competition each year, and it is a fiercely contested draw. Rick Daicos, Nikita Daicos and Tahlia West have been debating in five rounds in the Essendon region, and finished these rounds undefeated. They moved through to the finals where they beat a very high quality team from Santa Maria College. The team were defeated by a single point in their octo-final in what was an extremely high quality debate.

We would like to recognize the achievements of Rick Daicos, Nikita Daicos and Tahlia West for their dedication, commitment and debating skills. Congratulations!

Salesian College Sunbury First XI Cattle Scholarship
The upcoming school holidays is to be a very busy time for our three scholarship recipients, Jaime Vosper, Timothy Smith and Alice Mitrevics. The students will be competing at the 2017 Royal Melbourne Show Cattle and Handling Competitions. Each of the students will spend many hours preparing the cattle for showing arriving at the showgrounds at 6am and not leaving until 8pm.

With the assistance of Year 10 Cattle Team Mentor, Kate McKintosh the students will present the cattle for competition on two separate occasions, along with being invited to participate in the Grand Parade. We wish the three members of the team all the very best in their competition. Please make sure to visit the cattle and students should be attending the show.
