This week focuses on Careers of the Future,  Final 2018 Open Days, Year 12 Applications Checklist and our Schoolbox Careers Page.

Our Schoolbox Careers Page is available for students and parents to find useful career resources, information and links click here. You can also email careers@scr.vic.edu.au with any queries.

Parents are encouraged to make a time to see the Careers Teachers at Parent Teacher Interviews using the  PTO Booking System.

Year 9, 10 & 11: Prerequisites are subjects that are essential to be considered for a course – these can be found on the VTAC Pre-requisite and Course Explorer, hyperlinked on our Schoolbox Careers Page click here.

Year 12: The Careers teachers are assisting students with their applications for 2018. Students have registered for VTAC and should have put in their preferences.        

Checklist for Yr 12 VTAC Applications:

  • Register on VTAC
  • Apply for courses in preference order by 28th September
  • ALL STUDENTS Apply for Scholarships & SEAS Category 1 and any more categories as needed by 5pm, 10th October (SEAS Cat 1 uses student’s registered personal details used to access courses)
  • If applying to RMIT, Uni of Melbourne, ACU or VU, ensure SEAS Category 1 is ticked ‘Yes’ to activate our partner schemes:
       - ?RMIT: SNAP up to +20 ATAR points
       - ACU: +5
       - UMelbourne: lower ATAR requirement
  • If applying to Victoria University: VU Early Entry Offer program is an easy application on this page where students tick ‘Yes’ to attending an ‘Eligible School http://bit.ly/2tDz9Bo
  • Early Entry applications ie creative/performing arts, selection tasks deadlines start 31st August
  • ASPIRE early acheivers applications La Trobe University close 30th August, http://bit.ly/1cXetap
  • Pay $35 to validate application.

According to the Foundation for Young Australian’s, the world of work will look vastly different to the world of work you currently experience. Robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, working remotely, and increase in digital work…many things will change - even within the next 10 years.
