Welcome back – I hope all students had an amazing holiday and are ready for the term ahead.

House Events
In week 6 of this term we start our House Debating competition. Each House needs a Year 7 and a Year 8
team of three students. Students who are good speakers and would like to volunteer for their House should let their House Leader know. We also have MADD Day coming up so House Captains will be looking for students to perform in a variety of music, dance and performing groups and we have our College Feast Day.

Our Junior Girls AFL team were successful winning their tournament last term. The team was:

We have also had the boys and girls futsal teams play recently. The girls improved throughout the day and the boys won two of their four games.

Sports Commendation
We have a commendation for Joel Prpic. Joel is in Year 7, O’Grady House. He has recently been playing in the National Baseball Championships in Lismore, New South Wales and went to America to compete in the Karl Rippken Baseball Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the holidays.

Arts Awards
The Arts Awards were announced at school assembly. The runners up were Hannah Owens and Alizah Woodgate and the winner was Seana Garrett. Well done to these students.

Arts Commendation
We presented an Arts Commendation to Jackson Rudge. Jackson is in Year 7 O’Grady House and performed as the young Ned Kelly in a show last Monday night in St Kilda. He has also been selected to perform in a show called “Self” to be performed later in the year.

Year 5 Visits
I thank the Year 8 Leaders for their fantastic contribution to the Year 5 visits recently and to all the students who came and said hello to former teachers and students they knew from their primary schools – it really welcomed the students to the College – they were very excited to be here. Four Year 7 students gave a dance presentation and we are grateful to them:
