Savio Campus News

Our next Savio Assembly is on Friday 21 July in the stadium at 12pm. Parents are more that welcome to attend.

Premier League
We had fantastic success with three of our Year 7 Premier League teams making the finals – the Boys AFL, Girls Netball and Boys Volleyball teams all played St Monica’s. Commiserations to the netball teamwho lost by 1 goal after 2 periods of extra time. Well done to the AFL and Volleyball teams who were again victorious this year.

Model United Nations
Mr Mark Wisnieski will be starting a Model United Nations group at Salesian. The first stage will be to train up a group of interested Year 7 and 8. They will be attend two training sessions on Saturdays in August. Trainers will come from the University of Melbourne’s Model United Nations group. The students will be specifically being trained to attend a MUN conference hosted by Melbourne Girls Grammar. In the next stage, some of these ‘delegates’ will be tapped into leadership positions on an executive board who will then be responsible for training of future delegates. The objective is to make it authentically student-led program. Information on how to apply will be distributed through the Student Bulletin and Mr Wisnieski will be talking to students at our next assembly.

Boost Enrichment
At the end of Semester One our students involved in the Boost Enrichment program presented the findings of their investigations. Topics ranged from the “Effects of eating on academic ability” to “Do playing video games affect your reaction times?’ It was really great to see all the hard work they had put in.

Happy holidays
As we come to the end of the term, with Semester One behind us it is amazing to reflect on the busyness that is College life. I am constantly amazed by our students who fill their days with study, sport, music, dance, drama and the array of clubs we offer at the school. Well done to those who have thrown themselves into the life of the College with such enthusiasm.

I wish all families a happy holiday break. It is important that students take time to recharge and get over any winter bugs so they can return ready to take on new challenges next term.
