Mid-Year Examinations
Semester One examinations begin in about two weeks time for our Year 10 and 11 students, and represent the chance for them to show the skills and knowledge they’ve been working so hard to acquire over the last two terms. They are also an important part of the preparation process for Year 12 exams.

A letter was sent home last week outlining the dates, details and expectations of students during the exam period. This has also been sent via CareMonkey, along with the examination timetable. Some key points to note:

  • students are not required at school other than for their exams. There will be no formal classes during the exam period;
  • students are to be in full winter uniform;
  • students are to bring their student ID card to every exam;
  • pencils and pens must be brought in a clear plastic case, and any water bottles must have the label removed.

These conditions match the VCAA examination conditions for Year 12 students, and are part of the preparation and familiarisation process. Should you have any questions about the exam period, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the College.

VCE Mid-Year Lectures
On a similar note, many lecture and revision companies are now advertising their programs of mid-year VCE Revision Lectures for Year 11 and 12 students. These lectures are a good way to consolidate learning from Semester one, and highlight the key skills that will be needed at the end of the year. A number of flyers are available in the F Block foyer for interested students.

University of the Third Age
On Thursday May 5,  student leaders Grace Bourke, Josh Spaull, and
Madeleine Feain addressed a meeting of the University of the Third Age about being a student in 2016. The three of them spoke eloquently about the challenges of Year 12 and the busy lives that they are juggling. Well done to all three; they represented the school with poise.
