Savio Campus News

Both Years 7 and 8 should expect one hour of homework on average each night. As they have 4 subjects per day they should be expecting 15-20 minutes for each subject. Students are also expected to be reading a novel or the newspaper for 20 minutes every night. This may be set as part of their English homework on occasion.

I ask that parents monitor your child’s homework and advise their homeroom leader if they are not receiving enough consistent homework or too much beyond what is expected.

Year 8 Exams will take place during Week 8 of this term. English is on Thursday 4th June, period 1 and Maths on Friday 5th June, period 1. These exams give students a clear indication of how they are progressing in these subjects and allow them to practice exam techniques such as writing to a time limit.

Extra-curricular Activities

There are some wonderful clubs happening at the College during lunchtimes including a Robotics club, Bookclub and a new card club, as well as all the activities in the Music Department. Students interested should head to the Learning Centre for more information.

I was very pleased with how our students responded to the recent Naplan testing. This occurred in the stadium and gave students an opportunity to sit it under exam conditions.

Year 7 Dance Performances

This week our Semester One Dance students have the opportunity to perform in front of parents and other students as a culmination of their semesters’ work. Held in our wonderfully refurbished Ballroom I look forward to seeing many parents there to view what our students have been working on.
