Year 11 Presentation Ball

On Saturday the 2nd of May, Moonee Valley Racecourse was graced by the presence of 63 glamorous and light-footed Year 11 couples who were in attendance for the annual Salesian College Presentation Ball.

The stretch limousines and classic cars began rolling into the venue from 1pm as our highly preened, polished and prepared “Presentees” were whisked into the venue, but not before being captured on video and camera memory cards from all angles, it was shaping up to be a night to remember.

Once inside the venue, there were more rehearsals, professional photos and outfit adjustments to be done in the hours leading up to show time but once 6pm came along, all was in readiness and the nerves and heart rates were at an all-time high. When announced, each couple were presented to College Principal - Mr Mark Brockhus, College Rector - Fr. Will Matthews and Parents & Friends Association Vice-President Mrs Joanne Cooper. The couples then joined their dance set to put 10 weeks of dancing practice into action. Our students did not disappoint the 900 strong crowd as each dance set put on a master class demonstrating two separate dances both of which were executed to a very high standard and impressed all in attendance.

Once the formalities and food were out of the way family and friends joined the proud Presentees on the dance floor to dance the night away. The 2015 Presentation Ball was a thoroughly enjoyable night for all concerned and was made possible by the tireless work of Mrs Denise Carabott, Mrs Joanne Cooper and her band of helpers from the Parents & Friends Association. A big thankyou to all concerned and also for those who helped out on the night and lent moral support to our students and staff. It was a fantastic event that showcased what is possible when you focus on a goal and work hard towards it week after week. Well done Year 11s!

Young Drivers Forum with Hume City Council

With most students on the Bosco Campus having a Learners Permit or Probationary Licence we are acutely aware of the need for education and practice opportunities to build the skills and knowledge of our young drivers. Hume City Council partners with the school in our annual Fit 2 Drive Program and is also running its own Young Drivers Forum at 6pm on the 27th May. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Best wishes
