The last two weeks have been extremely busy in Sport. Tuesday 21 May saw our Junior and Intermediate Girls AFL teams play in a full day, round robin carnival across multiple venues. Our Junior Girls played out in Tarneit against 11 other SACCSS Colleges and were good enough to win the Grand Final by 1 point! Our Intermediate girls played here at Salesian College Sunbury and made it to the Grand Final, but unfortunately went down to an impressive MacKillop College team.
Term 2 has seen our Senior Boys and Girls AFL teams compete in the SACCSS Division 1 AFL competition. Our boys are aiming to make our 13th consecutive Grand Final and hopefully go back to back, whilst our Girls are hoping to go one better than last year’s Grand Final loss. Both teams stood up when it counted most last week against MacKillop College, winning must-win games to keep their finals hopes alive.
Last Monday saw our Intermediate Girls and Boys Futsal teams head down to two different venues at MSAC to compete in the SACCSS Intermediate Futsal Competition. Considering that SACCSS is one of, if not the strongest soccer/futsal school competition in the state, our teams competed really well. The boys walked away with three wins from six games and whilst the girls didn’t register a win, they were competitive in all games.
Our Year 7 Premier League has also continued throughout Term 2. It has been great to see so many of our Year 7’s heading out to represent the College and having fun each Wednesday afternoon. The home and away season has now wrapped up and congratulations to our Netball, AFL, Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball teams who have all made the Semi Finals. These will be played across various venues this Wednesday. Best of luck!
