Our College concert band treated the audience to a performance of new repertoire they have been hard at work rehearsing, including Havana, Pirates of the Caribbean and Dance Slav. The band has recently grown as new members from the Year 7 and 8 Music elective classes have joined. The band rehearses every Monday in the Music centre, see Mrs Woodruff to join.
The first Salesian College Sunbury playwriting competition has come to a close, with the winners being announced at our Term 3 assembly. Brendan Jones (Year 8) and Claudia Reddan (Year 11) have both won the opportunity to have their one act plays directed and staged as part of the end of year Christmas Play. The annual Christmas Play raises money for the St Vinnies Christmas Appeal, with all ticket sales going towards our local Sunbury branch.
This year, the play will be in three acts, with Brendan and Claudia’s work featuring, as well as a collaborative third act written by our cast and crew. This year’s play will explore what it means to give generously and to show gratitude for what we have.
The auditions for the play finished last week, with a stellar cast to be announced shortly. The Christmas Play will take place on Thursday 28 November.
Our Salesian Art Competition has officially opened for submissions. This year’s theme is tied into our Christmas Play, with all works to be presented and awarded on Thursday 28 November during pre-show refreshments.
We are looking for art work in any medium or form, digital or by hand. It can be a media piece, a mixed-medium design, a painting, drawing, performance, dance, or song. Your art piece should encompass the theme/s of giving, generosity, or gratitude. We are really excited to have all art works on display and to be able to share our wonderfully talented student work with the wider community.
Students from years 7 – 12 can submit their works by 1 November. There will be a cash prize for winners from the Savio, Mazzarello and Bosco campuses. We can’t wait to see what you create!
